Celebrating 125 Years of Community: Lena Armstrong Public Library Calls for Patron Stories

April 29, 2024

125anniversary - CopyA new commemorative logo and unique writing contest are part of the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Belton’s Lena Armstrong Public Library.

The logo uses symbols from past and present to mark the occasion. Some of the symbols included in the logo are a typewriter, Lena Armstrong, and current and past buildings.

In addition, the library is inviting patrons to share their personal stories and experiences as part of an initiative called 125 Stories.

The top 3 stories, selected by a panel of judges, will be awarded gift cards provided by the Friends of the Library:
  • 1st - $125
  • 2nd - $100
  • 3rd - $75.
Participants may submit stories using a Google form, in person at the library, or by email. Pictures may be included but must be hand delivered or sent by email. The submission deadline is Friday, July 12, 2024.

"We are excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with our patrons and hear their unique stories and experiences," said Library Director Kim Kroll. "Our library has been a place of learning, inspiration, and connection for generations, and we look forward to sharing these stories as part of our anniversary celebration."
