Police Arrest Man in Hit-and-run Accident that Killed a 13-year-old Boy

The Belton Police Department has arrested a 61-year-old Temple man in connection with the hit-and-run accident on Friday, Nov. 18, that killed 13-year-old Belton boy, Richard Snyder.

Ronal Norwood was arrested on Tuesday evening. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $500,000.

Norwood came to the Belton Police Department on Saturday and told police he was involved in the crash. His vehicle, a red 2007 Chevy 1500, was impounded at that time.

At this point in the investigation there is no evidence that alcohol was a factor.

The collision occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Snyder was struck while riding his bike in the 2100 block of the I-35 service road, near a mobile home park. He was transported to Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.
