Belton Man Charged with Murder

image001Belton Police have charged Jonathan Medina, 29, with first degree murder in connection with a stabbing incident on Aug. 16. Medina's bond is set at $1 million.

Bradley Deon Moffett, 30, of Belton, was killed in the incident.

At 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the report of a man down at Carla Apartments, 400 N. Wall, with possible stab wounds. Officers arrived and found Mr. Moffett unconscious in the parking lot. Officers started CPR, and Mr. Moffett was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital by Belton EMS. He was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital.

Officers located a suspect. later identified as Mr. Medina, fleeing the scene after being given a description and direction of travel by witnesses. Following a foot pursuit and brief struggle, Mr. Medina was taken into custody.

Criminal charges are an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
