Belton Fire Department Seeking Assistance Locating Automatic External Defibrillators

The Belton Fire Department invites Belton businesses, churches, youth clubs, etc. to assist in an effort to catalog automatic external defibrillators (AED) that are available in public and private areas where large numbers of people work or congregate. The Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Program allows 911 operators to quickly identify the exact location of an AED within a building, which could greatly increase the chance of survival.

To participate call, 254-933-5881, or email, kearnest@beltontexas.gov.

AEDs are installed in all City of Belton facilities, and in many fire and police vehicles. The American Heart Association advocates that EMS first-response vehicles and ambulances be equipped with AEDs or other defibrillation devices. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Belton ISD are among the Belton institutions that have participated in the PAD Program by sharing locations of AEDs.
