Fair Housing, It’s the Law
To promote fair housing practices, the City of Belton encourages potential homeowners and renters to be aware of their rights under the National Fair Housing Law. Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status or national origin in the sale or rental of units in the housing market. POLICY STATEMENT ON PROHIBITING THE USE OF EXCESSIVE FORCE BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES
The City of Belton announces that it has adopted a policy prohibiting the use of excessive force by law enforcement personnel within its jurisdiction against an individual engaged in non-violent civil rights demonstrations. This policy is in compliance with Section 519 of Public Law 101-44, 1990 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act.
COMPLAINT AND GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
The City of Belton has adopted complaint and grievance procedures regarding its Texas Community Development Block Grant Programs. These procedures outline the steps for a citizen to follow if she or he wishes to file a written complaint about proposed TX CDBG activity. The City of Belton will make every effort to respond fully to such complaints within ten (10) working days. Citizens may obtain a copy of these written procedures at the City of Belton, 333 Water Street, Belton, TX 76513-0120 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, through the mail, or by calling the City Manager at (254) 933-5819.
