Belton Analyzing Conditions at Central Fire Station

Belton Analyzing Conditions at Central Fire Station
October 16, 2018
Belton_FD_logoThe City of Belton is analyzing a condition of excessive humidity and moisture at Belton’s Central Fire Station, identified in conjunction with an assessment of HVAC operations by EIKON Consulting Group.  The areas affected involve the firefighters sleeping quarters and restrooms, which were remodeled in 2004.  We do not have a complete explanation for these conditions, but analysis will occur soon, as an environmental assessment is scheduled on Central Fire Station on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

As a result, all fire department operations will be relocated to the Sparta Road fire station effective Monday, October 22, as a precaution for firefighters, until further notice.  While it is anticipated that this change may increase response times, our goal is to minimize that outcome.  The City’s priorities are to ensure firefighter safety, provide adequate fire department response, identify cause(s) for these building conditions, properly address the repairs, and return Central Fire Station to a fully functional condition as quickly as possible.
