City Council to Consider Canceling May Election

City Council to Consider Canceling May Election

February 23, 2023

With only two people filing for two open positions on the Belton City Council, it is likely that a projected election in May will be canceled. The filing deadline was Feb. 17.

An item requesting the cancellation of the election will be presented to the Belton City Council at its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

One of the two people to file is an incumbent. Current Councilmember Dan Kirkley did not file for re-election. His term will expire in May.

The names of those who filed are:
  • Councilmember John R. Holmes Sr.
  • Dave Covington.
