Lead and Copper Levels in Belton Drinking Water Within State Standards

Drinking_waterThe results are in for recent lead and copper testing of City of Belton drinking water, and all samples registered levels below action levels of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Lead and Copper testing is completed on a triennial basis (one every three years). The way the process works is 30 samples are gathered from 30 different homes around Belton. Sample addresses were determined years ago, and must continue to be gathered from those addresses until TCEQ directs otherwise. In cooperation with the homeowner, the samples are gathered by licensed water operators.

To collect the samples a Belton operator spoke with each resident, gave them a sample bottle, and asked them to fill it up and place it on the porch for pick up the following day.

Testing was completed by the Lower Colorado River Authority out of Austin. Each address that provided a sample is sent a letter, which will include the testing results for that location.
