Belton Fire Department Plans Day of Observance on Sept. 11

BFD Logo - cipOn Sept. 11, the Belton Fire Department plans to have a small ceremony in the morning at Station No. 2 and spend the rest of the day in solemn contemplation about the tragedy suffered in America 16 years ago.

In previous years, the department has visited and participated in many events on Sept. 11. Due to the number of different ceremonies throughout the city, it has become difficult for the department to participate in all of them.

This year the department has chosen to remain at the fire stations where firefighters will reflect on the commitment and sacrifice of fellow firefighters that perished in the 9-11 tragedy in 2001.

We invite citizens to stop by the fire stations, 203 S. Penelope or 420 Sparta, to recognize the 9-11 tragedy and visit with firefighters, if they wish.

The public is welcome to attend the small ceremony at Fire Station No. 2. The ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane struck World Trade Center. Those who attend are asked to please arrive by 8:30 a.m.

For more information about the ceremony please contact Tami Bliven at tbliven@beltontexas.gov or (254) 933-5882.
