City Council Candidates to Draw for Place on Ballot

Belton City Council candidates are set to draw for a place on the ballot at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, at City Hall, 333 Water St.

Five candidates have filed for four at-large positions. Four of the candidates are incumbents.

The candidates are:

  • Craig Pearson* (incumbent) 
  • David K. Leigh (incumbent)
  • Dan Kirkley (incumbent)
  • John Holmes (incumbent)
  • Cindy Black

The filing period ended on February 15.  The drawing for a place on the ballot determines the order with which candidate names will appear on ballots.

Election day is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 4. Polls will be located at the Harris Community Center, 401 N. Alexander St.

Early voting is daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 22-26 and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 29-30. During the entire early voting period polls will be located at City Hall (Conference Room), 333 Water St.

Councilmembers are elected to two-year terms. They meet twice a month in regularly scheduled evening meetings, and each councilmember receives $1 annually for his or her service.
