City Council adopts final FY 2022 budget, tax rate

Belton City Council voted 6-1 to approve the fiscal year 2022 budget and tax rate at its Tuesday, Sept. 14 meeting.

The budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1, totals $36.4 million and is supported by a tax rate of 63 cents per $100 valuation.

The City begins the annual budget process each spring. The City’s Strategic Plan, updated annually by the City Council, guides the budget process.

FY 2022 property tax rate

The fiscal year 2022 tax rate is 63 cents per $100 of valuation, which is the same as the current City property tax rate. The rate reflects a 9.69% increase and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $48.30.
