The Belton Police Department has located the person from the pictures it released to the public yesterday.  Detectives have met with the individual, who assisted in the investigation and is not suspected to be involved in the hit-and-run. As a courtesy we have removed her pictures from social media posts. Thank you to those who helped the investigation by sharing information.

The investigation continues to focus on locating the vehicle and its driver. The latest information is that the car involved in the hit-and-run is a white Acura MDX from model year range 2014-2016.  The driver's side mirror broke off the vehicle during the incident.

New Information on Make and Model of Car Involved in Hit-and-run

Officers investigating the incident have updated the make of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. The vehicle is identified as a white Acura MDX 2019-2020.

Belton Police Investigating Hit-and-run

On Thursday at about 10:40 p.m., a Bell County Sheriff’s Deputy, working traffic duty following a concert in Belton last night, was injured by a hit-and-run driver.

The Deputy was on Loop 121 just outside the Bell County Expo Center parking lot when he was hit by a newer model white Honda SUV. The driver fled westbound toward I-14 with a damaged driver’s side mirror.

The Deputy was transported to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.
