Belton Seeks Public Input on Strategic Plan Update

Strategic Plan - Copy - CopyThe City of Belton is seeking public input on an update to its Strategic Plan, the principal theme of which is Managed Growth. The public is invited to share input about the plan at the City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Harris Community Center, 401 N. Alexander Street.

The Plan is scheduled to be considered for adoption at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The update was drafted following  a City Council tour on May 23 and after 12 themes were presented to the Council and management team for comment. Many of the inputs from this process have been included in the Plan.

The seven Goal categories remain unchanged (Service Delivery was added last year):
  • Governance
  • Public Safety
  • Quality of Life
  • Connectivity
  • Economic Development
  • Park/Natural Beauty
  • Service Delivery
The Plan includes a scorecard of 21 Goals from last year, and presents 22 Goals for Fiscal 2023. Goal refinement for Fiscal 2023 includes emphasis on, among others, these Goals:
  • Growth Management for the Community, including Plan Updates
  • Analyze Tax Base to ensure Effective Service Delivery
  • Complete Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Update for next 20 years
  • Maintain Needs of Police Department and Fire Department
  • Fund City’s Capital Improvement Plan and Capital Equipment Replacement Plans
  • Implement Imagine Belton Plan
  • Update Tourism Goals
  • Coordinate Transportation Projects, including neighborhood circulation in NW Belton
  • Enhance parks while upgrading existing facilities
  • Exercise Servant Leadership and comprehensively address employee compensation
Again, the Strategic Plan is available online to review and the City is inviting the public to share comments about it at its City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
