CodeRed Emergency Alert System

CodeRED Emergency Alert System

codered
The CodeRED system allows Belton residents to quickly receive messages to targeted areas or the entire city. The system could be used in a variety of situations, including to notify residents of boil water notices, flood alerts or crime alerts.

To register on CodeRED individuals and businesses add their phone numbers directly into the system's database. Only numbers in the system will be called. Those without Internet access may supply their information over the phone by calling Tami Bliven, 254-933-5881, with the Belton Fire Department, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or after business hours call the Belton Police Department, 254-933-5840.

Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number (additional phone numbers can also be entered), and email contact. Street addresses are required because CodeRED allows calls to be delivered to specific geographic regions within the city, which reduces unnecessary calls in situations such as a boil water notice. The system works for cell phones, too, but an associated street address provides enhanced accuracy.

The City of Belton has contracted with CodeRED in cooperation with Bell County and the Central Texas Council of Governments.
