Toll Bridge Road Bridge Open for Traffic

The Texas Department of Transportation has completed the replacement of Toll Bridge Road Bridge. It opened for traffic on November 12.

The $900,000 project began in March of this year. It replaced a structure that collapsed following a traffic accident in 2006. The new concrete structure is wider and longer and meets current roadway safety and design specifications. The approaches to the structure were also upgraded and replaced.

The City of Belton partnered on the project by acquiring right-of-way, relocating utilities, and contributing 10 percent of the funding, which was waived as part of an Advanced Funding Agreement that allowed the funds to be applied to another city project. The city’s match will fund construction of the $421,568 Connell Street Drainage Improvements Project, authorized by the Belton City Council on November 10.

Knife River Corporation, with offices in Bryan, was the contractor for the bridge, which improves property owner access and provides an additional route for emergency services.
