The repair to a gas line has been completed, and the northbound I-35 frontage road and freeway exit for 6th Avenue has reopened.

Gas Line Repair Underway near I-35 and 6th Avenue

The repair of a 4-inch gas line that was struck by a utility crew is currently underway and projected to take up to 8 hours to complete. The line is located just north of McCoy's Building Supply, near northbound I-35 and 6th Avenue. The 6th Avenue exit off I-35 will be closed until the line can be isolated, which may take up to 4 hours.

The Belton Fire and Police Departments remain at the scene.


6th Avenue Exit Temporarily Closed

The 6th Avenue exit on northbound I-35 is temporarily closed after a 4-inch gas line was hit by a utility crew working near the frontage road. The Belton Police and Fire Departments are at the scene. We will have an update as more information become available.
